after meeting jovina for dinner, i went to plaza sing to get dinner for my parents at mosburger
and it was just such a sweet encounter with the counter uncle :)
the queue was a little long,
and so was the wait for food.
but since i had nothing much to do and was just waiting for them to arrive,
i wasn't bothered about the long wait and just played with my phone.
after queuing for a while, it was a smile on an old uncle that greeted me despite the late hours (10pm)
in return, i ordered with a smile unconsciously
and was then asked to wait by the side
as there weren't seats for me to sit down, i stood by the counter and looked around aimlessly
till i saw the hot oil in front of me and wondered how painful it would be if the metal falls onto the oil and splash on to me
but felt even more worrisome thinking of the greater likelihood that the hot oil will splash on the mosburg staff
then the uncle came over with the grandfatherly smile and said sorry for making you wait
and i casually said it's ok it's ok with a smile again
for quite a long while, the burger just refuse to be done so i simply stood there and smiled haha
when the burger is finally done, he came back saying 'sorry for making you wait' again
and i just felt a little bad cause he has to apologise despite having to work so late in the night
so i said 'it's ok it's ok' again and here's our exchange:
"where are you from?"
"singapore"
surprised, he asked "can you speak chinese"
"haha, yes"
"对不起"
"不会不会, 辛苦了" with my nods
and he helped me pack my food with a warm warm smile
just as i was prepared to walk off with my food
he said "you are a lovely girl"
really surprised, i simply nodded and thanked him embarrassedly while walking off feeling so touched
awwww
i mean, it's kinda sad that it comes off as a surprise that singaporeans can be patient/courteous
but it's so nice to know a little patience of my own ended his day of service after the many people who came and left, some with slight irritation upon knowing that no more burgers are available
and even more touched by his grandfatherly smiles and the dedication he gives to providing pleasant services to the customers :')
